Preparing for birth is much more than learning when to go to the hospital or how to breathe through contractions.
It means understanding how birth works, knowing what to expect, learning how to cope with labor, and being prepared for the decisions you may need to make along the way.
For the past 6 years, I have professionally prepared families for childbirth using my own comprehensive childbirth education program.
My clients receive 9 prenatal sessions, giving us enough time to prepare thoughtfully and step by step.
My goal is for you to approach your birth with knowledge, confidence and a clear understanding of your options.
Evidence-Based Childbirth Education
There is an enormous amount of information about pregnancy and birth available today, but not all of it is reliable.
One of the most important principles of my work is honesty.
I provide practical, reliable and evidence-based information without fear, pressure or someone else’s agenda.
We discuss how physiological labor works, how labor progresses, what you may experience during different stages, and what can support you throughout the process.
We also prepare for situations when birth does not follow the expected path.
The goal is not to prepare for one perfect scenario. The goal is to understand birth well enough to navigate different situations with knowledge and confidence.
9 Prenatal Sessions to Prepare Step by Step
Comprehensive childbirth preparation takes time.
That is why my program includes 9 prenatal sessions.
Instead of receiving a large amount of information in one class, we move through pregnancy, labor and birth step by step.
You have time to learn, ask questions and understand how the information applies to your individual situation.
We discuss the physiology and stages of labor, hormones, breathing, movement, positions, comfort techniques, pain management, hospital procedures, induction, common medical interventions and communication with your healthcare team.
Understanding Your Options
Many decisions can arise during labor.
We discuss common procedures and interventions, why they may be recommended, their potential benefits and risks, and questions you can ask your healthcare team.
This is not about learning to refuse medical care.
Medical interventions can be important and sometimes necessary.
My goal is to help you understand your options so that you can participate in decisions about your own care and make informed choices.
Preparing for Different Birth Experiences
Many of my clients hope for a physiological birth and want to minimize unnecessary interventions.
We discuss what supports the physiology of labor, movement and positioning, working with contractions, comfort techniques and ways your partner can support you.
But birth does not always follow a plan.
That is why we also discuss induction, epidural anesthesia, common hospital interventions, cesarean birth and other situations you may encounter.
Knowing about different possibilities does not mean expecting something to go wrong.
It means being prepared.
Education Based on Real Birth Experience
I am a certified childbirth educator, birth doula, postpartum doula and breastfeeding counselor.
I have 8 years of experience and have attended more than 400 births.
My childbirth education is informed not only by professional training, but also by years of being present in birth rooms and seeing how labor actually unfolds.
My goal is not simply for you to know more about birth.
I want you to understand what is happening, feel confident asking questions and be prepared to make your own decisions.
Service Area
In-person services are currently available throughout the greater Sacramento area, including Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Davis, Natomas, Rancho Cordova and surrounding communities.

Reviews
My contractions began in the evening, and I spent the majority of that time laboring at home—which turned out to be the best decision. Thanks to Olena, I didn't feel the need to rush to the hospital and was able to navigate a crucial stage of the journey in a comfortable and peaceful environment.
Tatiana
This was truly a huge help during labor. Having someone there who understands all the processes and how everything is connected makes such a big difference. When I first started taking classes with the doula, I felt scared and not completely comfortable.
