The birth of your baby is the beginning of an entirely new stage of life.
The first days and weeks can be beautiful, emotional, exhausting and overwhelming at the same time.
As a postpartum doula and breastfeeding counselor, I provide practical, educational and emotional support to help you recover, understand your baby’s needs and adjust to life with your newborn.
Support for the Mother After Birth
After birth, attention often shifts almost completely to the baby.
But the mother needs care too.
Your body is recovering from pregnancy and birth while you are learning to care for your baby, adjusting emotionally and often functioning with very little sleep.
My postpartum support focuses on both you and your baby.
Postpartum Recovery
Recovery is different for every woman and may also differ depending on whether you had a vaginal or cesarean birth.
I provide education about postpartum recovery and help you understand the changes that can happen during this period.
My role is educational and supportive. Medical concerns should always be discussed with your healthcare provider.
Newborn Care
Newborns bring many questions.
I help parents become more comfortable with everyday newborn care and understand their baby’s behavior, cues and needs.
My goal is not to take over caring for your baby.
My goal is to help you become confident caring for your baby yourself.
Breastfeeding Support
As a breastfeeding counselor, I provide education and practical support as you and your baby learn to breastfeed together.
We can work with positioning, latch, feeding cues and common concerns during the first days and weeks.
When additional medical or specialized lactation care is needed, I will recommend contacting the appropriate healthcare professional.
Adjusting to Life With a Newborn
Every family needs something different after bringing a baby home.
Sometimes you need practical help. Sometimes you need information. Sometimes you need reassurance that what you are experiencing is normal.
Postpartum support is individualized around the needs of you, your baby and your family.
Service Area
I currently provide in-person postpartum support throughout the greater Sacramento area and surrounding communities.
